To celebrate the newly completed Qasr Al Muwaiji visitor centre and the extensive restoration of the fort, dignitaries from around the emirates were invited to join H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nayhan for the official opening ceremony.
Our approach was based around 'if these walls could talk' to evocatively transport our visitors through the forts historic past to the present day using large scale scenic projection on the entire main front facade and the inner courtyard walls. The vast filmic canvas was also complimented with live entertainment featuring traditional music, dancing and poetry as well as a week long programme of activities for local schools and visitors.
Having designed the Visitor Centre, it was so nice to be given the opportunity to unveil it to the world. The challenge we faced with some of the historical archive material was the quality was so poor that scaling it up was not really an option. So with a change of hat, I became the illustrator for all the screen content and spent a glorious week in a sketching frenzy... The final cherry on the cake.
